The Hermanos: What’s it Like Running a Business with my Husband

They say your biggest win in life is the person you marry—and I couldn’t agree more. If there’s one thing I’ve learned over the years, it’s that marriage, much like business, thrives on strategy, teamwork, and a whole lot of trust. And in both life and work, I couldn’t have asked for a better partner than Gio.

My husband, a UI/UX designer with nearly nine years of experience, has been in the industry for six years. Meanwhile, I’ve spent the past six years building a personal brand and being an expert Social Media Marketing Strategist. Together, we’ve built a work dynamic that thrives on balance: one of us is the visionary, the other is the doer. Sometimes, I come up with the big idea, and he brings it to life. Other times, he sparks the concept, and I take the reins on execution. It’s always a collaboration—never a hierarchy. No bosses, no rigid roles, just two creatives who trust each other’s instincts and skills.

One thing I’ve always believed is that we fit together like a puzzle. Where I’m fast-moving and full of ideas, Gio is calm and collected. He has this natural ability to understand things at their core, while I tend to see the bigger picture. I’m the optimist who’s always ready to take the next leap, but I also expect the worst in every situation. Gio, on the other hand, sees the good in everything. Being together for almost eight years, he’s taught me the value of slowing down and making decisions with clarity—something that has been incredibly helpful in running my business.

Of course, it’s not all smooth sailing. Our biggest challenge? Learning when to pause. When you love what you do, the lines between work and life can blur, and before we know it, we’re discussing business strategies over dinner or brainstorming content ideas at 2 AM. More often than not, it’s our bodies that remind us to slow down—to step away from the screens, take a breath, and just be present.

Our recent home office move solidified something we’ve known all along—this is the life we were meant for. It’s unconventional, sometimes chaotic, and definitely not by the book, but it’s ours. And honestly? We wouldn’t have it any other way.
